BOOKMARK DISTANCE WORKSHOPS

Costs are separate from the Annual Support subscription. Training is via distance mode. The Bookmark manual (1999/2001/2003) is used extensively in conjunction with these workshops. Please make contact if further information is required.

The Distance Workshop is completed using workbooks and training data on CDR. A backup disk and the workbook of completed tasks are returned for evaluating before a report and certificate is awarded. Each workshop takes approximately 12 hours.


Combo 1
The Combo 1 workshop focuses on setting up (system parameters) and backing up the database. It gives ‘hand’s on’ practice for data entry (cataloguing) procedures, both manual data entry and SCIS entry. This Combo 1 workshop gives an overview of both public access and circulation procedures. Topics include: Installing the software, formatting diskettes, backup procedures, system controls, manual entry, SCIS entry, copying, authority files, boxing items, borrower entry, circulation procedures, overdues, public access.


Combo 2
The Combo 2 workshop focuses on familiarising the user with more advanced features of the database. It gives 'hand's on' practice for complex item and borrower searches, report making and statistics. The Combo 2 workshop gives an overview of stocktaking procedures and the Book Reviews module. It expects the user to have some knowledge of system controls, backup and circulation procedures. Topics include: complex item & borrower searches, global changes for items & borrowers, stocktaking, book reviews, reports, statistics and cataloguing websites and weblinks.
